"Dreadful"

About: Great Homer Street Medical Centre

To put in to context fortunately myself and my family rarely visit the surgery, thankfully we are in good health and will only visit the gp if there is no other alternative. On the occasions I have tried I am unable to get through to the practice, looking at 5-8 minutes waiting time, once actually getting through I find the receptions really unhelpful in the sense that they are usually engaged in conversation with someone else in the practice and it actually seems like a chore to answer the phone. Earlier in the year I was contacted and advised that my son had not had his mmr vaccination. Three phone calls I actually received to advise me the same message, this was worrying considering the fact he had, had his mmr and had his red book signed 5 months previously, quite worryingly really as this injection could have been administered more than once as nobody had a record of us ever coming in? He was subsequently booked in for a nasal flu vaccination, of which I had to cancel, upon ringing to cancel I was advised the appointment had already been cancelled by a gentleman who had phoned earlier on? Obviously quite worrying for me as I was the only one who knew about the appointment, the receptionist did not seem to have a clue and didn't give me any further information than that.My last experience with the practice was the fact I rang to book my daughter in to get a wart on her finger frozen, from the outset I specifically outlined this to the receptionist and I was placed on hold as the receptionist was not sure how to answer my query- after being on hold for some time they came back and advised we could come in Friday afternoon, I booked the afternoon of work collected my daughter from school ( having had to miss her after school provision which still had to be paid for), to be told that I would have to make a subsequent appointment for another clinic- just an absolute inconvenience and waste of time, appreciate if the receptionist was unsure they should of checked this as this is just totally unacceptable.

I feel really let down by the way things have been dealt with and for someone who only uses the service when absolutely necessary I have zero confidence in the practice. I have subsequently completed new forms to move us elsewhere
