"Neurosurgery referral"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Neurology

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter has been referred to neurosurgery by Hairmyres after being admitted for headaches and nausea. She was admitted for 10 days and was treated for meningitis. An mri found excess fluid, swelling and a mass in third ventricle. She was discharged from Hairmyres after treatment for meningitis and was told she would be treated as an outpatient at Queen Elizabeth after having scans redone in 3 months. I am in total despair as she still has the headaches and nausea she was admitted with and is getting worse with no information as how to help her or who to contact. She is extremely ill and has no quality of life and after an emergency trip to Hairmyres after discharge they cannot help her. She needs to be seen immediately she is so scared and needs some answers.

Dear Elainem11,

Thank you for taking the time to post, I am sorry to read that your daughter is feeling scared and you have concerns re communication and follow up. I would be obliged if you could contact our Patient Affairs Manager, Christine McNeill on 01355 585325 with your daughters details and hopefully we will be able to resolve the difficulties you are experiencing.

Kind regards

Margaret
