My routine "poo test" came back with some blood in it and I was told I needed a Colonoscopy to test for bowel cancer- to me both the cancer and where somebody was going to put a camera were equally scary.
However I saw Kerry, a specialist screener within a week, and she was both friendly and professional. Naturally I was still nervous but felt fully informed.
Just 1 week later and I was in New Cross Hospital in the very capable hands of Dr Brookes. Less than 1 hour after arriving at the hospital it was all over. Both he and everybody there were fantastic.
I can not say it was something I would do again for fun but there was no pain, in fact there was hardly any discomfort. If you find yourself in the same situation I would assure you that the thought of the procedure is 100 times worse than the actual thing
My thanks to all involved
