"Four months gone and I am still waiting for an appointment"

About: Devon Access and Referral Team (DART)

(as the patient),

After accidentally having a piece of glass stuck in my heel, I went to see my doctor at Coleridge Medical Centre who took an X-ray and asked me to ring Dart to make an appointment to have that piece of glass removed.

I rang DART but couldn't get through, then I got a letter the week after stating that an appointment had been made for me on the 11th October.

Two days before my appointment, I rang DART again enquiring about parking, the Lady at reception told me my appointment had been cancelled. Four months gone and I still have that piece of glass stuck in my heel with no appointment.

Was DART ever going to tell me my appointment had been cancelled had I not rang to enquire about parking?

How do they think I feel, having a piece of glass stuck in my heel for almost 5 months?

Dear Chat850

I really am very sorry to hear that your problem has not been resolved. It does sound very uncomfortable and the story that you have outlined above certainly doesn't sound right.

I would very much like to look into your situation in more detail so that we can find out what has gone wrong and see if we can sort things out for you.

Unfortunately I cannot look up your referral with the detail available from your notes. If you would like us to follow this up for you, please do ring our patient helpline at DART. You can call on 01626 883888 Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm. If you could give us a little more detail we can investigate and follow this up for you. Anyone on the Helpdesk team would be able to help - or you can ask for me by name if you prefer.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience and I hope you will get in touch so that we can follow this up on your behalf.
