"Fast Track Service from Foxhill Med. Centre."

About: Foxhill Medical Centre

On the 10th of Oct. 2016, whilst on holiday in Spain, I was diagnosed with renal cancer. On the 11th I contacted Foxhill Med. Centre by phone to advise them of the situation and to seek their help.

On speaking to the Practice Manager I was advised to fax the diagnostic report from the CT Scan carried out at the Spanish Hospital and that the Foxhill staff would deal with it quickly. I faxed the report on the morning of the 12th Oct. and true to their word within 3hrs of me sending the fax they had sent a Fast Track Referral fax to the Urology Dept. at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

I flew home on the 13th Oct. to find an appointment letter waiting for me. The appointment was for the 14th Oct. to attend RHH for bloods, CT scan, pre-op exam and to meet the Urological Consultant to discuss treatment options.

From finding I had cancer on the Monday, by the Friday of the same week I had a plan in place to treat it!

This was due to the staff at Foxhill being so quick in acting on my behalf with the Fast Track Referral, something which my wife and I are most grateful for. It meant that there was little time to worry too much about the diagnosis itself and this reduced the level of stress for my family and myself.

I was operated on first on the 20th Oct. and again on the 4th November. In my case the Foxhill Medical Centre and the NHS have been, and continue to be, excellent in treating my condition.

Thanks to all the at Foxhill Medical Centre.

Dear Patient, many thanks for expressing your appreciation in the public domain. Often our actions go unnoticed and to receive such praise is very, very heart warming. We do try to offer a good service to patients and will endeavour to assist our patients as and when needed. We recognise that when cancer is diagnosed it is a very stressful time for patients and so understand that time is of the essence.

The NHS is under many pressures at the moment so to receive words of support definitely improves morale. Thank you on behalf of the team at Foxhill.
