In January'09, I had a mastectomy, i then had a rebuild in 2010. there were problems with the rebuild causing hernia which I am having problem with now.
In my experience, the staff are very friendly and helpful, but some can be very lazy. I think that more staff are needed on the ward.
I felt that the after care unit was where it all went wrong. There seemed to be no communication between doctors, nurses and patients, and I had difficulties in getting a dressing when needed. I had to attend three different surgeries to get my dressing changed.
The feeling of helplessness was unbelievable. I have had counselling now to help me through the experience. The cancer counselling was fantastic and this has helped me through it all. No one has cancer out of choice - we need help through it all.
