"Excellent Care"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

I was recently taken to A&E during the night wiih palpitations, a pulse of 150+ and an abnormally high potassium level.

Fortunately the ward was quiet when I arrived at 3am. First 1 doctors and then 2 and a nurse started to work on me.

Each procedure was explained in detail, all my questions and worries answered, someone was always close by which made me feel safe.

At 8am my pulse had dropped to 90 and I was transferred to the Acute Medical Unit where I stayed until 4pm.

The nurses, and espcially the one who had been assigned to look after me,

were absolutely brilliant - calm, friendly, efficient, knowledgable.

This was not the first time that I had to go to A&E, my late husband had to go quite often and apart from the occasional longer waiting time, the attention and care given to him otherwise was always excellent, not just in A&E but also on the wards.
