"Planned c section."

About: Good Hope Hospital / Maternity care

I am a high risk pregnancy due to my first child born premature at 36 weeks due to FD, and also due to previous pre eclampsia with my 2nd born, (which went undetected for 5 weeks!) and caused my placenta to erupt. She was delivered at 32 weeks.

as you can imagen this time around I am very anxious to carry and deliver my child safely. I have opt for an elective c section to which I was supposed to be booked when I attended my 34 week growth scan on 25/10/2017. Arriving at my appoiment and discussing all the information with my consultant they filled out the nessercery forms and told me to book my date for 39 weeks at the reception, arriving at the reception the clerk was very rude and abrupt with booking my appoiment and told me due to a backlog I will be telephoned with an available date, this caused me distress as I was told I would have notice to sort child care for my other children and so on, I will be 39 weeks pregnant in 3 weeks and do not have another appoiment scheduled until my CS, I am growing more and more concerned that I’m not going to recive my date until last minute or worst case that I will go into labour before hand which will not be safe for neither me or my unborn child. I give my highest praises to doctors midwifes consultnents etc but to be in limbo for my c section date is outrageous.

Dear Patient,

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments, regarding you care and treatment at Good Hope Hospital.

I am sorry to have read your comments and how distressed and anxious you are, as this is not how we would want an expectant mother to feel.

I am also concerned at the way you were spoken to by the Clerk.

If you would be willing to provide further details such as your name, date of birth and address, as a Trust we would welcome the opportunity to address your concerns.

You can do this by either contacting a member of the Patient Services Team on 0121 424 0808 (lines open 9am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday) or you can email your concerns to bhs-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net

If you do contact our team, can I please ask you to advise the member of staff that you are responding to your NHS Choices Posting.

I will forward your posting to the Senior Midwifery team, so they are aware of your experience.

Yours sincerely

Jenny Langham

Patient Services Officer
