"Sent home after a stroke"
Posted by unsossison (as ),
My sister in law from Bridlington is staying with us for a couple of days, is aged 76 and suffering from dementia.
At 3am one morning last month she screamed and went rigid. The wonderful ambulance staff's opinion was a stroke, and they rushed her to Barnsley General.
After telling the staff that she came from Bridlington, it was 9am by the time she was admitted without treatment. I went home to await news and at 1pm I received a phone call from the ward saying come and collect her as she could go.
I went back with her husband and then had to wait another 3 hours before she was released, with little sign of improvement, and with a letter for her local doctor. My brother in law visited her GP two days later with the letter which the GP read out to him. The letter stated that his wife had fainted while on the toilet.
In our opinion the staff wanted rid of her because she was an incomer. She has since been assessed by her GP who says it was a mini stroke.
