"waiting times"

About: County Hospital Louth / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I arrived for my appointment at opthalmics at louth hoispital 10 mins before my appointment.

An hour and a half later,  a nurse came and wrote a notice on board saying there was a 90 minutes delay, I had been there 90 minutes then. I went to see nurse  put plastic frame on my eyes told to wait in wait in waiting room and I would be called back in.

An hour later, I was told to go for a scan on my eyes which nurse did,  told to wait again. Then went to see the Dr,who explained a little but I needed to see a Dr higher up.

I said how long would that be he said 2 months I said I drive everyday and extremely worried about my sight. I was very anxious by the time I saw the Dr after waiting nearly 3 hours

Dear jhr193,

Please accept my apology on behalf of my team.

I will remind them all to keep patients informed in a timely manner of delays and to update the information if delays lengthen.

We only have one scanner and many patients need a longer time with the doctor than their allotted appointment time.

Jan Seward,

Sister, Outpatients
