"Fed up of seeing different locum doctors"

About: Sefton PCT

(as the patient),

I moved from my previous doctors a while ago because I was fed up seeing different locum doctors.

I moved to a new practice because I was informed that there were two regular doctors in the surgery and I would be able to see one or the other if I needed.

To my disappointment both of these doctors spend very little time in the surgery. One spends one day a week there whilst the other spend two days a week there, both are usually booked up and people have to visit locum doctors. What is even more disappointing is that you can not get an appointment for days.

Twice in the past couple of weeks I have tried to get an appointment to see a doctor and could not get to see anyone for days. This morning I tried to book an appointment for today or tomorrow and was informed that there was no appointments until Friday this week and that I would have to call the surgery at 8.00am tomorrow to try to get a cancellatiion.

I feel this is not acceptable, if a person needs to see a doctor they ought to be able to within a day or two at the most.

Many people want to see their doctors because they are ill or need medical attention and should not have to wait for days or even the following week, and in my case may not see their own doctor.

People generally want to see their own doctors and not have to explain to different locum doctors, who they don't know and who would not usually know them or their medical history
