On Saturday, October 21st I visited the RD&E accident and emergency department as my elderly father had had a fall.
We arrived at around 9:45pm.
Each member of staff that we encountered was extremely efficient and yet compassionate. The reception staff member who we spoke to first was warm and professional. We only wait about 30 minutes to be seen by the triage nurs. Again they were friendly and yet very efficient.
Due to my father being on medication to thin his blood we were advised to see a doctor and have a CT scan. It was only a matter of about 10 or 15 minutes before we were invited into the emergency room and given a spotlessly clean bed. A nurse helped my father as did a doctor. Both were very compassionate, non-condescending and very professional.
The scan took place within about 10 minutes of our arrival into the emergency room and the result came back in about 15 minutes. Everything seemed to run so smoothly and the whole department felt calm and under control.
We left with my father feeling much more reassured, with a well-dressed knee and with guidance of what to do next. We both agreed that it was important to us to share this experience and to formally say thank you very much to the team at the RD&E.
Thank you all very much.
