Thank you so much to the amazing staff in A&E and AMU. Came in (somewhat reluctantly as I thought I’d be sitting around for ages) on Sunday night with breathing difficulty. Right from the moment the main desk receptionist walked me up to A&E (as I could barely walk and breathe after walking in from the car park), to being taken immediately through for every test under the sun, and finally admitted and treated for a pulmonary embolism.
All the staff were so friendly and efficient, kept me well informed and nothing was too much trouble - from the reception staff, the nurses, porters, the doctors, pharmacy and facilities ( who made amazingly hot cups of tea!) My staff nurse even took my phone to be charged up so I could keep in contact with family.
There were so many people in the unit needing help, and all the staff were always busy but never displayed anything other than calmness and genuine care and concern. That helped me so much especially as I’d never expected for one minute that I had something serious and I’d end up being kept in. I thought I’d be out after a couple of hours being told I just had a reoccurrence of pleurisy or something!
Once again the men and women of the NHS prove what an amazing institution it is. You are the ones who should be recognised and paid the big bucks!
Thank you xxx
