"URGENT MRI SCAN !!!!"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

I went to see an orthopaedic surgeon on 11th October who requested an Urgent MRI scan, I was contacted by the MRI department on the 19th October to be told they had made an appointment for me at the Chartwell Hospital on 14th November, I pointed out that it was marked as urgent by the consultant, the response I got was 'that's the best they can do'. I then phoned the Chartell to see if they could expedite my appointment to be told they hadn't received the paperwork and to call back on Friday, the paperwork should have arrived by then, when I called back it still hadn't arrived. I called the MRI department at Basildon Hospital several times but just got an answer machine where I left a message for them to call me but never had a response. I called PALS but got no reply, just an answer machine where again I left a message, PALS did get back to me but since then I have had to liaise with MRI through them but again so far have had no response. It is very frustrating to not be able to communicate with MRI direct, all i'm being told is they are short staffed, that is not good enough, patients should be able to contact any department to discuss their treatment/appointment without being pushed around, after all, patients attend hospitals because they have an illness/condition and can do without the frustration and upset that lack of communication causes, This is the first time I have attended Basildon Hospital as a patient, I worked there for 15 years and was always happy to help patients with their queries in person or by phone. What has happened to communication between patient and hospital staff. I am quite disgusted with my experience so far and am not looking forward to attending this hospital for potential surgery, I don't feel very confident that future visits will go smoothly.
