"Urology Department Services"

About: George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services / Urology

I was originally under the care of Urology services at

University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. I was being treated for recurrent symptoms related to a kidney stone in my left kidney.

As George Eliot Hospital is only half a mile from my home I asked the Consultant Urologist of UHCW to refer me to George Eliot hospital in August 2016, they obliged.

I had to wait 2 months for an appointment. When I saw this Consultant Urologist, I wondered if I made a mistake requesting the move. They just walked into the room , and did not even sit down to chat with me. They did not have any of my notes with them and just told me they will see me another appointment in 2 months !!!

I was not at all impressed with their cavellier attitude but hoped for the best.

Over a span of 7 months I suffered several very painful infections. During this time I was prescribed a couple X-rays and consultation appointments with the Registrar and had one session of Lithotrpsy treatment in Goerge Eliot Hospital. Between March to End of May 2017 I had 3 very severe infections with vomiting and fainting attacks. I was treated by my GP with antibiotics. I felt the kidney stone had moved to a different part of my left kidney. The pain was constant despite taking pain killers

I was very anxious for help from the Urologist to avoid another severe attack of infection and to be relieved of this pain.

I contacted this

Consultant's secretary pleading for help. I made 5 different phone calls over a period of 11 days. I asked her to ask the Consultant Urologist to review my case as a matter of urgency and another another X-ray. When I phoned again the secretary told me they had put my case notes on the desk of the Urologoist with urgent written on it. They did not contact me or do anything.

I felt very very led down and worried so I requested my previous Urologist at UHCW to take me back. They were wonderful and gave me a quick appointment. They even did a scan in their office and found my kidney had an obstruction. They was very worried. They said my kidney can get permanently damaged if this obstruction is long seen to. They quickly arranged treatment and now I am well.

I am very thankful and gave UHCW Urology services 5 stars for their prompt patient centered care.

I hope this review will alert this

Urology Services of George Eliot hopspital to perk up their attitude and improve for the sake future patients. Patient centered care is very important.
