My 91 year old mother in law was unwell and had a fall, the ambulance was called and I accompanied her to hospital. We were triaged and sent into the waiting room.
When we did get to see the doctor we received dignified, compassionate attention.
My mother in law is frail, almost completely deaf, and has dementia consisting of severe memory loss...during the long two and a half hour wait in her pyjamas and dressing gown she started to feel much better and continually asked what she was doing there!
All the nurses and the doctor were lovely, all checks were done and we went home reassured that there was nothing significantly wrong.
When we asked for use of a wheelchair to transport her to the car, a nurse actually came with it and took us to the doors.
The only criticism I could possibly have is the length of time of the wait, circumstance beyond control of the staff.
We are full of admiration for the staff, cheerfully doing such a dedicated job in demanding circumstances.
