It is invidious of me to criticise a practice that saved my sanity my job my marriage and my life. I am extremely grateful and beholding to all the medical staff for their effective treatment and most of all for their kindness, care and concern spanning 45 years.Appointments are frustratingly complex to obtain and are rarely punctual. On one memorable occasion, having logged in on the screen I sat for forty minutes in full view of the receptionist. When I politely enquired as to the likelihood of an imminent consultation I was rudely informed that I had just arrived(strange I thought because the two most recent arrivals were a different colour and different sex) then I was told I was late - that has never happened in 45 years. The receptionist is clearly not a trained observer or a warm hearted diplomat. One patient who arrived after me corroberated my version and even apologised for being taken before me whilst I patiently waited my turn. This was as vexatious as it was irrational causing me disproportionate distress and anxiety when i thought I was attending for the good of my health. There are other occasions where receptionists snappily inform patients that their prescriptions are unnecessary and could be withdrawn. Surely without medical examination by a medically qualified person this possibility could be discussed in the privacy of the surgery. I think I will just take my aged body to a practice where I feel comfortable and respected.
"Forty five years, the decline is sad but..."
