Concerned by the symptoms my 3 year old was showing, raised temperature hacking non productive cough and combined with a history of serious chest infections we went to Milton Keynes Walk in Centre.
We were not prioritised for treatment.
The receptionist, I feel, couldn’t be bothered to look up from administration whilst telling me to talk to their colleague, in a manner I can only describe as being “politely abrasive”.Meanwhile the colleague was too busy texting to appear interested in doing their job.
We were told waiting times were approximately 1 hour. 1 hour came and went and it appeared we would have to wait at least another hour on top, a total of 2 hours before seeing a doctor even though the centre was not at all busy. The reason, there appeared to be only 2 doctors on duty to serve the whole of the city of Milton Keynes.
In the end I took my child home untreated because I deemed the risk to health to be far greater sitting amongst other patients with who knows what kind of contagious infections. A valid concern when you consider that the immune system was possibly already compromised
In my opinion the whole experience was a shambles from start to finish. The walk in centres bright new interior belies a service worthy of a third world country.
Needless to say we are extremely angry and I will be writing to my MP to express my concerns and the Local NH trust chief executive to demand an explanation and an apology.
