"Birth of baby"

About: Royal Free Hospital / Maternity

I will not give this hopital a bad review based on 1 person, however i am suprised that such an individual works with vulnerable people. I had met them 24 hours prior to my labour and they were very rude and dismissive toward us, they did a sweep on me and was asked to take it easy as i was sore from a previous sweep. They totally ignored it and was somewhat aggresive, we had to ask them to stop and request another nurse to do it. We happily waited an hour and the next nurse was as sweet as sugar and even offered me gas and air because i was in so much pain. My first part of labour i had a wonderful midwife! But when their shift ended i was once again faced with this person. They enter the room without acknowleding us and takes a chair to sit down with their back against me and starts reading OK magazine! I could not believe their disrespect and disregard. I do not shout at people but this angered me so much i raised my voice and asked them to leave. Their response to me w as: “i am just as qualified as the previous nurse”

My response to them was: Im sure you are but you have zero people skills! There was no other Midwife available for an hour and we were alone until someone else once again had to take over from what i can only call incompitent Midwife.

However, every ther person i met or came across was super helpful. So kind and i felt like i was really looked after. Ended up having a C section and in ntensuve care for 2 weeks afterwards, but i was looked after so well!!

Hello

Thank you for taking time to leave a review, I know how busy being a new mother is and how precious your time can be and I hope you and your baby are getting to know each other and settling into a routine.

I am very sorry for the care you received from one of our staff; the care you describe is not at the standard we expect.

I am keen to share this with the Consultant Midwife and ask if you would kindly send me their name so I can pass it on, I do not need to share your details but it is important the member of staff is spoken with.

I would be grateful if you can send me the name of the member of staff to richardchester@nhs.net mentioning your maternity experience review.

Kind Regards

Richard
