"Excellent care but over subscribed"

About: One Medicare LLP-the Light

I am really grateful to the fantastic and caring doctors, nursing and healthcare assistant staff in this surgery.

I feel the doctors really do care and will take the time to ensure you are supported and are healthy again as quickly as possible.

The service is oversubscribed which is highlighting a priority of quantity over quality - luckily the medical staff maintain the quality as best they can, but at what point will things go too far?

Surely the surgery is best to have a reasonable capacity rather than one that will eventually cause patients to leave?

The reception staff have always been as helpful as they can be - yes I get frustrated with the appointments issue, but it isn't their fault.

Additionally the telephone booking system doesn't meet all needs e.g. nurse/healthcare assistant appointments.

I'd love to name names for the staff members that really stand out for me so they get recognition for their efforts.

My one bug bearer is the £40 fee for a GP letter.

I am registered disabled and have spent at least £80 on this for when I had to miss exams due to my illness - this is something

I can't help.

I do appreciate the high cost is used as a deterrent for silly things, but I have a genuine issue which is out of my control and a budget of less than £50 per week.

Hello and thank you for your comments. Although the practice has a large number of patients we have also grown the number of clinicians in line with this over recent months and years. We currently do not offer telephone or online booking of appointments to Nurses and Health Care Assistants as the number of different issues they deal with and therefore the number of different types of appointments has, in the past, created a lot of wrongly booked appointments. We are considering introducing a limited number of these however in the next couple of months as a new trial. We are also trialing Skype consultations with patients who use this method of communicating.

Please feel free to name any member of staff that has really gone out of their way to look after you and I will certainly pass this on to them. We do have set charges for private letters using guidance from the BMA as doing these letters can often take GPs a lot of time which means they cannot see as many patients. Although some letters may be quite short the GP will often have to spend a lot of time reading the patients notes to be able to accurately write this letter.

Thank you again for your comments which I will pass on to the team here at the Light

Regards
