I got an appointment with the (incredibly good!) GP for the next morning having checked online the day before. And yes it surprised me too to get one so soon. The doctor really could not have been better. The reception staff were welcoming. The outcome to my medical and personal needs could not have been better. My faith in the service was restored following a very poor recent experience of A and E. When our NHS works it is unsurpassed and world class. When it does not, like any system, it is very frustrating and especially so at a time of need. I think sometimes we do need to give each other a break. Any system that involves humans will be fallible and when we are ill that is hard to accept. But patients can be just as at fault as health service professionals - or is that just me?
