"Booking system is ridiculous"

The doctors and nurses who I've seen at this GP have been perfectly good and professional. The reception staff can be a bit patronising at times but that's bearable. What I find ridiculous is that you cannot book an appointment unless you physically go into the surgery as soon as it opens to get a same day appointment as they are given out on a first come, first served basis. They allegedly allow you to call in and book an appointment which is non-same day but whenever I call the number it rings and no one picks up.
