Since 5 January 2015, patients have been free to register/remain registered with GPs when they move outside the GPs practice are.
However, when I recently moved into a retirement complex I received a letter requesting that I find a practice near to where I live.
There was no discussion or consultation although I was actually receiving treatment for mental ill-health and undergoing CBT sessions. Never-the-less within 10 days of receiving the letter I found a suitable practice and completed the relevant application form.
I was told it would take 7-10 days to register with new GP and until I received confirmation I should remain with Morley Health Centre.
I was therefore staggered to find that when I telephoned for an appointment on 30th August (less that 10 days after receiving the letter) the receptionist informed me that I had been removed from the GPs register at Morley.
Thank heavens I'm not suffering with a life threatening condition.
What a disgraceful way to treat patients, particularly those who are vulnerable.
