I returned from holiday to find a letter offering me an appointment which I was unable to attend.
I tried ringing numerous times and each time after not being answered I was automatically cut off.
I rang switchboard, told them what had happened, they tried to put me through and I could hear various clicks which I assume they were trying different numbers, after holding on for 4 mins 30 seconds I gave up.
Nobody came back to me to to explain they could not get me through or with any explanation.
I tried ringing the department again and the phone was engaged.....ahaa I thought, so I kept redialling, but sadly that did not even catch anyone to speak to.
Once again it cut me off.
This time I rang switchboard and spoke to someone and used my "authoritative voice" and explained again what had happened.
She just said I shall put you through to PALS.
I spoke with a member of staff who said they would try and guess what, someone answered!
I explained, again what had happened and was told "well we are a very busy department".
I completely understand that having worked for the NHS for over 25 years, but come on!!!
Yes I am over 60, but I feel that the days of verbal communication are over!
If I had been offered an email address to amend my appointment I would have used it, but nothing shows on the letterhead.
