"Excellent care in clinic 31st May 2017"

My husband was required to attend an urgent appointment at the Oncology/ Haematology Centre , and we were both apprehensive and fearful of what was going to happen . On arrival ( after negotiating parking ) we were directed upstairs to the clinic area.

We were met by a member of staff at the desk, who greeted us with a friendly , welcoming smile, and took time to explain exactly what was going to happen ,where we had to be , and took time to make us feel valued- in what was a busy clinic area also ensured that our confidentiality wasn’t compromised.

This staff member's communication skills were exemplary ( quietly efficient and calm ) and inspired confidence. Even after our appointment time ,and on our return back downstairs this member of staff, again, displayed excellent care ( notably not just to us but to other patients/ relatives who were coming in after us - so it was obviously a continual good approach to all)

As a former nurse in the Bristol area, I am fully aware of the difficulties and expectations on an overstretched service, but we both wanted to ensure that this member of staff's excellent care and support was recognised ( as often the front line support workers are the first people that the public see) and that if and when we may require care from this part of the health service we would throughly recommend
