In 2011 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer which was dealt with by very competent staff who understood and reassured me that my prostate removal and after care would be an utmost priority for them, which it was.
In 2015 I was diagnosed with leukemia which has resulted in one monthly visits to the Haematology Outpatients Department under the care of the doctor who is always very cheerful towards me and helps explain all the other problems associated with this condition.
Because of the various side effects that go along with the medication I have to take, my blood has to be made thinner than would be normal, this results in very serious nose bleeds which means I have to spend two to three days under the care of the ENT department, again the staff are very considerate as to my care.
Next, as I have to visit the Haematology Department every month, this requires a blood test on the previous day at the Phlebotomy Department where the staff are very caring towards me, they very often have difficulty locating a suitable vein to take samples.
Overall to all the departments involved in my care I wish to say a very big thankyou to you all for a great caring and understanding service towards me.
Please understand that I have been under the care of several departments at the DGH and that I wish to say a big thankyou to all staff concerned.
