"A&E were absolutely brilliant, they couldn't..."

About: Grantham & District Hospital / General medicine

Because of problems with my left hand my wife decided I should go along to the A&E at Grantham on Saturday morning.

After checking in with the delightful person at the reception desk, I had hardly had time to sit down before my name was called, we then went into a consulting room and met a brilliant nurse who gave me a very thorough once over and the nurse immediately decided I needed to see a doctor.

So I then went back into the waiting room area and after not too long a wait we were called into to see the doctor, who was amazingly caring, utterly professional and generally comforting.

The doctor decided that I needed to have blood tests etc. as well as the immediate attention to the scar tissue on my hand.

I honestly don't think I could have had better service anywhere.

My only cause for concern was that during our visit, we didn't see any pump action dispenser for surgical hand cleansers that you normally see in hospitals etc., surely this must be an oversight by the authorities/management at Grantham?

My other concern is an obvious oversight of whoever created this web-page!!!!!!

In the department drop down menu below there isn't a tag for the Accident & Emergency Department

Thank you very much for this feedback, I am delighted that you are doing well and would like to acknowledge the fantastic team that we have here in Grantham Accident and Emergency.

Thank you for raising the issue of hand gel dispensers.

This is not an oversight. We do have dispensers within the department, but these are restricted to the clinical areas. We do not leave it in the public areas, as we have a lot of vulnerable patients visting the department; we would hate for harm to be caused to children or anyone else through lack of supervision or even deliberate misuse.

I will share your feedback with the A&E team who were on duty on Saturday.
