"Having A Baby Cesarean Section: Excellent..."

About: New Cross Hospital / Maternity care

I absolutely recommend having a baby at New Cross.

First I'll say the good things, and then the 1 big issue I had that if didn't happen, would have otherwise been a 5 star experience.

Excellent surgeon, anesthesiologist, and staff for the actual birth (I was walked through the entire process with care & kindness).

Midwives were great, everything was clean.

The 1 issue I have was with 1 health care assistant.

It's amazing how 1 person can spoil the experience!

They were assigned to move me into a different bay (I wasn't informed this would happen so it was a surprise - I had many things to pack back into bags).

I can only imagine they wanted to go home as it was the end of their shift (I don't know why else they were so horrible!).

As my husband packed up our things, they wanted me to put dirty bags into the baby cot where my newborn was going to be sleeping (I was holding baby in my bed).

I said absolutely not as the bags were on the hospital floor!

They also snapped at us to move faster several times, however there were 3 other empty bays so I really felt that behavior was unnecessary.

In total we only took 5 minutes of their time to move bays.

I had just come out of surgery 2 hours before.

I can't remember their name, but I hope they get better training or is replaced by someone that actually wants to be there and help patients.

On a positive note, mama & baby are healthy and happy!

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your comments relating to your recent patient experience.

May I take this opportunity to congratulate you and your family on the birth of your baby.

To enable me to look further into your concerns relating to the Health Care Assistant, I would be grateful if you can contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01902 695362 who can assist you further.

Kindest regards

Alison Dowling
