"A and E visit Saturday night"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department

We are looking after our disabled grandson, aged 5, whilst his parents have some respite. He had been a bit off colour during Saturday but went to bed happily enough. By 1130 he was running a high temperature, had a stiff neck and a horrible cough. We rang for an ambulance which arrived promptly ( and we really do live in the sticks!). The paramedics were wonderful dealing with two panicked grandparents as well as speaking to our grandson and explaining things to him in a manner he understood. On arrival at Truro everything was ready for us, doctor and staff nurse waiting. We were all treated with curtesy and made to feel human, not a number as we experienced when we lived in Wiltshire. The doctors we saw were brilliant and the staff nurse was marvellous. We cannot thank you enough for the excellent caring service we received - well done. Vicki and Simon

Dear S************t

Thank you very much for taking the time to post such a lovely review of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Emergency Department. I am sorry to hear that your grandson needed to be admitted by Ambulance, but am so pleased that he received such great care and staff communicated with you all so well throughout. I will ensure that your wonderful comments and thanks are passed on to the team so that they are also aware of your kind words.

I do hope that your grandson is now recovering well from his recent admission.

With kind regards

Michaela Brewer, Patient Experience Coordinator
