"Poor admin"

About: Princess Margaret Hospital

I saw an excellent private GP for initial consultation and review at a cost of £165 in August 2017. I paid promptly on receipt of the bill over the phone by credit card. The GPs billing company was paid the next day. I never received a receipt. A few weeks later I received a bill for the same services from the GP. I phoned and the secretary said they remembered me paying! and ignore the bill which they had sent in error. I was surprised that accounts were not checked at that time other than they remembered me.

A few weeks later I received another bill for the same services from a different company who I later found out had taken over the billing services and needed to quote "reconcile accounts."

After phone calls and emails I eventually received a receipt from the first company that took my money. This was sent by email. I was told by the secretary that the receipt had been sent in the post but they had no idea what happened to it as it never arrived.

The stress involved in the payment procedures far outweigh any gain in seeing a private GP.

Why did the receipt not arrive through your postal system? Is your postal system not operating correctly?

In July in a different situation altogether I waited three weeks to receive blood test results which were to be sent to me by consultant gastroenterologist. When they did not arrive I was told by the secretary that they had sent them to me again through the hospital postal system and they too had no idea what happened to them! I never received them in the post either.

Chaotic GP payment services and two letters not received, generally very poor admin.
