"Induction of first child"

About: Warwick Hospital / Maternity

I was at Warwick Hospital for the induction of my first child. The staff on the ward were incredibly kind and very good at explaining everything that was going on pre-birth, but I couldn’t help but feel a little bit forgotten about once my baby was born - I needed help with breastfeeding as my baby couldn’t get a good latch and I felt as though the staff found it a lot easier to talk me into formula than to spend time helping me learn how to feed my baby. I ended up watching YouTube tutorials and teaching myself to feed her.

I also wish that I hadn’t been promised my husband could stay with me overnight once baby had arrived if he was going to be asked to leave. I was promised early on in my pregnancy that this wouldn’t happen as I suffer from panic attacks and was worried about my wellbeing after baby’s birth - the staff were all aware I had been promised this during my stay.

Before and during labor the staff were extremely attentive and explained the process really well. I felt a lot more at ease once the time came to have my baby and was incredibly grateful for their care, time and interest in not only me, but my husband too.

All in all, the staff were generally fantastic, I know that they were extremely busy during my stay but I did struggle with the lack of breastfeeding support :-)
