Our Dad was taken into hospital by ambulance to A and E on Monday August 7th 2017, from there he was admitted to EAU3, after this he was moved to ICU with grave heart and kidney problems.
ICU had him until August 13th, from there he has moved to Simpson ward until finally at Dunlop ward until his passing on Sunday 27th August 2017
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the Consultants, Doctors, nursing staff and housekeeping staff.
The care was above and beyond the call of duty, especially on Dunlop ward.
The senior sister and their team were so kind, and full of empathy towards us.
The last week of our Dad’s life was emotional and stressful and as a family we were frightened not really knowing what to expect.
Andrew and I were with Dad day and night, nothing was too much trouble providing tea, coffee, breakfast, pillows and a mattress.
They would pop into the room just to talk to us letting us know we were not alone, this is besides all the dignity, compassion and the care that was shown to Dad until his last moment.
After Dad passed away one member of staff sat with us all supporting us and explaining the next steps in a truly compassionate manner.
In writing this letter I know the NHS receives a lot of negative press and criticism, but we as a family thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the amazing care we received.
"My Dads palative care til his passing away"
