"Visiting at Royal Oldham Hospital"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Maternity

(as a relative),

In my opinion, the open door policy around visiting people on the post natal ward is an absolute disgrace. My wife spend nearly 36 hours in labour only to be kept awake all day and night by to many people visiting the ward.

The cubicle next to her had brought about a million kids who all decided it was a great place to run about and play, the other people who were visiting felt it was an appropriate place to stage an episode of Jeremy Kyle. All my wife and baby daughter wanted to do was sleep and they were unable to due to the appalling policy to let as many people in as they want. I spoke to a midwife who agreed that it is ridiculous that this amount of people are allowed in but said it was the management above that thinks it is a good idea.

I will be taking this further.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback about the postnatal ward.

I am sorry to hear that you were caused distress by other visitors on the ward during your stay. Within maternity we share the same visiting hours as the other wards within the trust and currently there are no plans to alter this. However, your feedback has been shared with the management team. I am more than happy to discuss this further, please contact me directly at:
