"They have all been extremely helpful and approachable"

About: Rotherham Hospital / Gastroenterology Rotherham PCT / Community dietician Rotherham PCT / Nutritional services (feeds and supplements)

(as the patient),

I underwent a partial gastrectomy in late September last year. I was visited by many professional staff before I was discharged in early October and the dietitian came to see me.

Miss Rutter was very helpful. She went through diet booklets with me and answered questions as regards my meals when I got home. She also ordered a quantity of FORTISIP for me.

I was discharged two days later. We were in touch over the phonenand when she could not contact me to answer my queries, she wrote to me with the information I wanted.

I don't think I could have managed without the information booklets and diet lists. Information given verbally is very helpful as queries can be answered, but later at home it is very useful to be able to refer to written information.

It is now almost a year since my operation and I still have to consider carefully what I eat. I am in touch with the dietitian at Woodstock Bower Surgery in Rotherham and the dietitian at Rotherham General Hospital. They have all been extremely helpful and approachable.

I could not get FOTISIP through my GP dietitian (something to do with cost), but the Rotherham General Hospital dietitian arranged for a supply of FRESUBIN to be delivered to me. I can get more if I contact her.

All in all, I have been well looked after. It had been many, many years since I was a hospital patient and I must say things have changed tremendously. I could find very little that was not excellent. Even the snoting of the other patients was something I got used to.
