"Waiting time for neurosurgical appointment"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as the patient),

I am a nurse and have been on sick leave since June 2017 due to Sciatica

Following an MRI scan in August it was felt a neurosurgical referral was necessary

Early September my GP sent referral to the relevant service

I am attending physio and requiring significant analgesia

I am keen to get well to return to work but dismayed today when I contacted the booking office to be informed that there was a 30 week wait for an appointment.

I feel we are continually being stressed about meeting health service referral to treatment targets and wonder why neurosurgical services are not included.

Dear drumm

Thanks for your post on Care Opinion.

I am sorry to read that you are suffering from sciatica and the length of time you need to wait for an appointment.

Can you please contact me at Nicole.McInally@ggc.scot.nhs.uk with some personal details including your date of birth so that we can look into this further? I would be grateful if you could quote the reference number: 398205.

Kind Regards

Nicole
