"Reception & Admin staff"

About: Market Surgery

I have no problems whatsoever with the Gps at this practice but the above staff not all of them need training. For the past 2years after being assured over the telephone that mistakes will be rectified I have recieved incorrect care plans. These plans are to be taken with you if you are admitted to hospital so, surely therefore details on these should be correct as this is information hospital doctors will look at. Also i had a telephone call this morning regarding a repeat prescription that a doctor had signed, a receptionist querying a doctors decision, by looking at past repeat prescriptions this matter could have been solved without this upsetting call and would have saved all the wasted money & time taken.

Dear patient.

Thank you for taking the time to review our Practice services. I am pleased to hear that you are satisfied with the health care provision from our GPs.

With regards to your care plan, as you state, it is important that these are correct. If there are any inaccuracies in your care plan, then please let us know so that we can rectify them. We will also be able to ensure that, with your consent, you have an active Enhanced Summary Care Record - this means that should you ever need urgent medical care in a hospital, the doctors will be able to bring up your detailed medical records which will include everything (and more) which is in your care plan.

As part of our practice policies, some of our reception/admin team are now trained to deal with repeat prescription requests and form our dedicated Prescription Team. This saves our doctors lots of time, therefore creating more appointments and reducing your wait to see a doctor. It also ensures that your prescriptions are checked before being issued and that your medical reviews for repeat medications happen on time; However they do not have the authority to cancel/add any prescriptions without a doctors authority, however some medications may be amended for like for like replacement medications upon recommendation by the NHS. If you would like to contact me directly at the Practice, then I will be able to look into the incident which you describe above to provide a suitable resolution.

Kind Regards

Mike Cox

Practice Manager
