"Having arthroscopy surgery on my knee."

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery Queen Margaret Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had surgery on my knee a week ago. The whole process was like a well oiled machine, and everyone was lovely. Various health professionals came to see me beforehand, to ask questions about my health in order to give me the best care. Louise, the nurse, looked after me in the ward, and Christine took me to the anaesthetic room, explaining everything so I knew what was happening. Then Marc the anaesthetist gave me a general anaesthetic, and I was not aware of anything else until I was back in the ward, and someone was asking how I was feeling. It takes me a long time to recover but the staff were very kind and let me sleep until I felt able to move. The tea and toast the nurse gave me tasted delicious! Later the consultants (Mr Chesney and his assistant) both came to check I was all right. The entire experience was pleasant and the staff were all excellent.

Dear Cruth

Thank you for taking the time to post about your recent experience in the Day Surgery Unit, the staff work hard to maintain a high standard in the "week oiled machine" and the main focus is to provide patient centred care, it seems we got it quite right on this occasion and you were kept informed of each step of your jouney, the tea and toast is second to none and its what patients look forward to.

I will be sure to pass on your comments to all the staff and in particular the ones you have mentioned.

Wishing you well in your recovery

Nola
