My dentist referred me to the BDH at the start of May for a gum infection beneath a crown. I spoke to the Dental Hospital coordinator, and was informed of a waiting list.
I phoned at various times to check progress, I either left a message or if that was not an option, kept the phone ringing but without an answer. The message did inform however that the coordinator was on leave.
On June 6 contact was made and I was informed of a three month waiting list and a letter would be sent to me in August for a consultation.
No letter arrived, so by mid August I started ringing again, usually without an option to leave message, I was finally able to leave a message on 23 August but no contact was made with me.
I continued to ring the number twice weekly without success.
On 21 September I rang a main Hospital number and after a long conversation I was told a letter had been sent on 9 June to an address I moved from 18 years ago even though they agreed they had my current correct address.
I was given another number to ring to make an appointment and was given 30 November.
A total wait now of 30 weeks, if somebody, somewhere can't bring some form of sensibility to this saga.
I asked to speak to a manager , but was told they would ring me, I have their name but no call has been made to me despite me ringing and asking to speak to them twice more.
When I informed of the discomfort the cheeky receptionist even advised me to go to my own dentist - the very reason I am trying to attend the BDH is because my dentist cannot do the work.
Why the BDH can't send texts, emails or leave messages on mobile phones is a mystery.
It would save thousands of pounds in postage and labour costs, and prevent gross time consuming errors such as this.
"20 weeks and still waiting"
