"Treatments at the following hospitals"

About: Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre Lincoln County Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics Montagu Hospital / Rheumatology

(as a service user),

Since a very early age I have had surgery, now numbering 20 operations. I wish the following to be registered:

1) Lincoln county, when I left the army in 1993 after a full 22 year service (during that time I had a fair amount of surgery, I was luckier than some I am still here! Lincoln screwed up an annual inspection and I the doctor (not the main consultant) him my hip was broken again, he sent me for a blood test, I told him no its the annual x-ray especially as I had an issue. They were sorry and as the hip was a mess I was referred to Sheffield Northern General.

I was pleased with the professional service I received and ended up going there each year for inspection for the next 10 years. The hips by then had both been replaced in total 5 times and my left knee, I was always pleased with the service and professionalism of the main man and nursing staff.. Until another annual check up again another specialist who was one that passes through, did not believe ne of my hips had started to break down again! . I did not bring in a solicitor but just decided to ask my doctor for a better one and more local. I was a professional person myself with war zones under my belt and was upset at the service I was starting to get!

2) I now come under Barlborough on Lindrick way Chesterfield for hips and spinal problems under Mr Minas. This guy is brilliant polite understanding and a real professional, nothing has as yet been done under his recommendation of hanging on as long as possible as one hip may not be able to be replaced, the other has small issues that can wait for now! ! I felt welcomes accepted and relaxed as the staff are perfect friendly polite and very professional.

3) AS I am a sufferer of arthritis (over many years) My doctors recommend me to Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital Montague on Adwick Road. They are also brilliant looking after me for the. Now the new hospital Montague is far better. Already having the dreadful Cortisone injections, but it has to be tried, now I am ready for a new elbow! ! I still feel a lot better there comfortable and confident.

Wishing all the best to all professionals in the NHS whom are often underrated under paid and not appreciated as much as they should be.

thank you for your reply Gill. I am glad the comment went down well!

I have a question for you though, My elbow is no better I would need to make an appointment with my doctor or at least ask for a referral letter to have the elbow surgery.

all the best to all staff, not forgetting Mr Tawari and Mr Simpson White, they were also good people

Gray

Hi Gray - If you have been discharged from Montagu Hospital you need to go back to your GP to discuss further options e.g. surgery and if appropriate they will refer you for further treatment.

Hope you get this sorted soon so you can start to feel better!

Regards

Gill

Hi Chris thanks for the reply it is nice of you. I do prefer to leave positive remarks but occasionally one has more to say. I wish I could have got a reply to my phone call today regards my next appointment as I am desperate for the surgery, do give my thanks to all and hope to see Gill on the next appointment.

Gill I had thought the next appointment on the 14th of November (so why say I am discharged?) it is confusing would be brought forward as I am suffering, could this not be done?
