"Warm, caring professionals"

About: Basildon University Hospital / General surgery

I came in to A+E on a Saturday night. I was seen fairly quickly and sent to the surgical referrals unit to await minor surgery that night. Having never needed medical care before I was nervous, scared a little embarrassed at having to undress. Every single staff member I encountered from the ward through to surgery was kind, reassuring and very professional, quickly putting me at ease and helping displace my fears with their warmth.

Despite this being their every day, the staff I met seemed to genuinely care.

The operation to remove the abscess from my leg went trouble free and I was able to go home the next day. I wouldn't hesitate to attend Basildon hospital again if needed.

We are always pleased when patients take the time to comment on their experience at Basildon Hospital and were glad to hear that you were pleased with the care and treatment you received in the A&E department and Surgical Referrals Unit.

Your kind words were forwarded to the senior team to share with staff involved in your care.

May we take this opportunity to thank you and to wish you all the very best for your future good health.
