"Difficulty in getting an X-ray for an injured..."

About: Frome Community Hospital

On my second visit to the Minor Injuries Clinic I was still experiencing great pain in my leg and foot and hoped for agreement from the nurse available at the time that an

X-ray would help with the diagnosis of continued pain and swelling.

I waited two and half hours to eventually be seen by the nurse who said in the 10min check up that they did not think I needed an X-ray. The nurse helped me book an appointment with a GP whom I saw in desperation after my visit to the clinic and who immediately referred me to A&E for an X-ray . When the X-ray was taken I was found to have a fracture in my leg.I continue in the fracture clinic.

My main concern was the long wait to see someone and then despite X-ray attached to the clinic I was not considered for further diagnosis despite two weeks of pain and distress.

Hello, good morning

I am really sorry to read your feedback about Frome MIU. Your experience is not good and I would like to look into your visit in some detail. I will pass on your feedback to the Nurse Consultant, however, your details will be needed in order for this matter to be looked into thoroughly. Please could you contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, (PALS), on tel: 01278 432022 or email us at pals@sompar.nhs.uk so that we can take this further.

I hope that the pain has reduced and that you are feeling a little more comfortable now that further treatment has been provided.

With kindest regards
