I recently visited East Surrey Hospital Eye Clinic following an eye test at my opticians and referral by my GP.
I arrived at a very busy outpatients' clinic at 0900 and immediately thought I was going to have a long wait before being seen. However in less than 10 minutes I was called by a nurse who carried out an eyesight test, and then administered some drops in both eyes. After another approx 30 mins in the waiting area, I was summoned into another room where a consultant performed a very thorough & professional examination of my eyes, at all times keeping me informed about what was found.
At the conclusion of the survey, I was advised it would beneficial for me to undergo some laser treatment to one eye, at the same time fully explaining any risks involved. As the treatment was of a fairly minor nature and would take only 5-10 minutes, the offer was made to perform it there and then. I signed the consent form, had the laser treatment, and was discharged from the clinic 20 minutes later.
So to sum up, I had my eyes tested, examined, & treated all within 2 hours - all very impressive and commendable. Later that day when the effects of the drops had worn off, I was delighted to find there was a dramatic improvement in my vision. Well done East Surrey Hospital!
