My father, Arthur Dennis Paynter was admitted to the acute stoke unit on Phoenix ward in the evening of Tuesday 12th Sept , having had a severe stroke.
As none of his family live locally,my sister and I travelled to the Hospital on Friday and stayed with him until he sadly passed away on Wednesday 20th Sept
We very extremely pleased with the care
Dad received.
All staff, nurses and doctors, housekeepers and admin staff made us feel confident in leaving Dad in their care.
We were informed and felt our views were listened to , by all staff, Dad was kept clean with fresh , clean sheets every day, He was shaved and looked very well, cared for.
He was spoken to kindly by all staff and ,although the ward workload was heavy we didn't feel they rushed their care of him.
The medical team all discussed the process of end of life care with us with empathy and kindness , allowing us time to ask questions, and to plan how Dad would be kept comfortable and pain free.
The staff also showed flexibility in allowing us to visit outside visiting times .
Thank you for helping our Dad to die with dignity and peace
overall we felt Dad passed away with dignity
overall we felt Dad died with dignity and we are very grateful for the staff
