"stunningly accurate procedure"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

oong long wait almost went privately but Arrowe park came up just in time with an appointment. Procedure was as pleasant as I suppose it could be but shorter than I thought it would be . Staff were very friendly and put me at ease. Clinical test beforehand were very thorough even including getting informastion from Canada where I had Laskik surgery nearly 17 years ago. but results were fantastic. Had a new pair of reading specs done here in croatia in the summer and the eye doctor said my vision was now 99.95 perfect in the treated eye. Only one grump why do they get everyone in at 7 am in the morning despite tyhe fact that they work in the operating theatre from about 9.30 to 1pm. So you may be seem within an hour if your first or have to wait five hours if you are last. Needs better organising I think. But overall fabously experience Well done Arrowe Park

Thank you for your positive comments. We are delighted that you have had such a good outcome from your recent cataract surgery and that you found all the staff along your journey to be so friendly and helpful.

Regarding your query about being brought in at 7am, while some procedures allow for staggered admissions, the morning operating sessions generally run from 8:30am. As well as any final pre-operative checks by the SEAL Unit staff, patients are also reviewed by their surgeon and anaesthetist before they commence their operating lists. We appreciate that an early admission can be frustrating for those patients later on a list, but it does make for a more efficient operating list than having the surgeons and anaesthetists coming in and out of theatre over the duration of their lists. It also allows greater flexibility: a list's running order can be swiftly changed in the event of unexpected problems on the day, such as a patient being unable to proceed with surgery.

If you wish to discuss this further, please contact our Patient Relations Team on telephone 0151 604 7660 or email wih-tr.Patientrelations@nhs.net. Otherwise, thank you once again for taking the time to feed back.
