"My dad's final days on Summers Ward"

About: Peterhead Community Hospital

(as a relative),

My dad was admitted to Summers Ward, he had terminal lung cancer and brain tumours and he was palliative. He was determined he was staying at home to live out his days but once he spent one day in Summers Ward he decided he was staying. The staff were loving, caring and very attentive to my dad but also with the needs of all the family. My dad was able to live his final days in peace and with dignity having all his family around him. We can't thank the staff of Summers Ward enough but we are very grateful they were there giving us all that support.

Dear Grateful and Thankful,

Thank you for taking the time to post your story on the Care Opinion site at what must be a difficult time for you and your family. Please accept my sincere condolences for the sad loss of your dad.

I was so pleased to read about the care your dad received when he was admitted to Summers Ward and I’m glad he felt comfortable and supported in his final days. Knowing he was cared for so attentively with peace and dignity must have made a huge difference to you and your family.

I’ll make sure your feedback is passed to the staff at Summers ward, who although will probably say they were just doing their jobs, will be grateful for your kind words.

Take care,

Kirsten
