Dropped into the Phlebotomy Department to have some blood taken at 9.30am on 29 Sept 17.
The department were servicing ticket no. 17 when I got there and I drew ticket no.30
40 minutes later, having serviced 4 hospital referrals (which take priority) and with 2 people doing blood draws they were still on ticket No. 21.
At Tewkesbury Hospital the appointments for blood tests are 4 or 5 minutes and after countless visits there it has never taken any longer.
So what the hell are the staff up to at Cheltenham - there is no apparent reason why they are taking so long.
As I was sat there some senior person came out and changed the sign to say that the delay had increased by another 20 minutes - maybe their time would be better spent focussing on service delivery and providing their stakeholders (and ultimately their employers - the public) an efficient service that is fit for purpose.
