"Poor communication"

About: Cumberland Infirmary / Gynaecology

Having been referred from my doctor twice, both appointments at the hospital has been a disaster. 1st visit I was left waiting 45 mins as the doctor had not arrived, I left upset after my appointment as the doctor and the nurse sat in the corner spoke to me like I was a child and they even asked me "why are you here" and when explaining that my doctor has advised they said that there was nothing they could do ... I left and went back to my doctors after I had complained about my visit and I was referred again, after waiting a month and having to get out of work, 2nd visit was a waste of time. Dr was late again and I was put with the same dr after specifically requesting not to see.had to rearrange. Nobody contacted me to tell me the were running late again. really disappointed

We are very sorry to receive your comments and concerns via NHS Choices about your recent experience at the Cumberland Infirmary.

The events that you describe about unreported clinic delays and specific request re choice of consultant are not our usual standard and were clearly very upsetting for you.

You felt you were being spoken to like a child; I can understand that this was extremely frustrating and disappointing, and added to your stress.

I shall pass your comments to Matron so that she is aware of your comments and I will also ask that department is reminded about displaying information connected to any clinic delays so that patients are aware whilst they are waiting to be seen.

Once again please accept our sincere apologies on the disappointment that these visits have caused.
