"My daughter was treated with respect and care"

About: Barnsley PCT / Contraception and sexual health

(as a relative),

My daughter went for the contraception implant. She is only 15years and so I had to be with her. From going in and coming out, every one spoke to my daughter and not me which I thought was very good as she was the patient. She was treated with respect and care .

Everyone was explaining to her the detail, she was scared so the doctor and nurse made her feel at ease by going through the process as they did it and making sure she was okay at all times.

Thank you for taking the time to give such positive feedback regarding the Contraceptive and Sexual Health Service. It's always good to be able to pass on such comments to the service.

Dear Likely764, It is really great to hear about your experience together with your daughter when she had a contraceptive implant. Getting emotional support and being treated with respect can make a tremendous difference when accessing a service you need. You might find it useful to know that YouthNet, an online information and support charity for 16-25 year olds, provides more information on a range of different health issues, including things to consider when looking to access health services. You'll find it here on TheSite.org. With all the best, Patrick Daniels, Head of User Involvement and Support, Youthnet
