I was seen by the paramedics and didn't want to go to A&E, but was given a choice of hospitals by the paramedics, after having stuck a knife through my hand and wrist and not remembering anything. "Please not Ealing", I said! The last time I was there, nobody talked to me for hours, except administering a drip, I said, I left in an ambulance and left without my inhaler (as chronic asthmatic), wallet or Oyster card. I told a nurse that I was feeling tight chested and didn't have my inhaler, the nurse looked at me, walked off and never came back. They then discharged me at 12:20am. No Money, No Oyster card and too late to call for a lift! Tough, they placed someone at the end of my bed to make sure I was getting out! I was stuck - Thank you Ealing! I eventually got home (breathless and desperate for my inhaler at 02:20), after a family member bought a taxi journey home for me. I know there are people and family members on my behalf that will be filing formal complaints about this. I thought "I never want to see the inside of an Ambulance, or A&E again". So, still struggling with mental health issues, and self harm, I said to the paramedics..."Charing Cross". 'What a difference'!! Ok, pretty long wait, but when I was seen by the psychiatric team...what a difference; they took their time and came back twice to give me updates - brilliant!. The only downside was the shift-change between night and day shift, I was confided to a room with 4 chairs and four plane white walls for 14 hours!. If I wasn't nuts when I went in, well...!? But then was handed over to the discharge team and said "I haven't eaten in 24 hours and what had happened. What an awesome group of kind-hearted people they are. They booked me a taxi (for free, which Ealing couldn't do, and said they don't do), and said please eat! So, they sent me home with 4 bags of fruit, juice and sandwich's!. I am so, so grateful to those staff who went above and beyond to help and support me at a time where I was probably at my lowest. Eternal thanks. X
