"Good clinical care undermined by thoughtless ..."

About: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital / General medicine

I was treated earlier this year for a kidney infection and after a stay of 6 days I was well enough to return home.

My clinical care was good and I was prescribed pain relief but rarely did I receive it on time or in the way the doctor had prescribed it, this caused me a great deal of unnecessary anxiety and discomfort.

I felt like I spent most of my time in conflict with nursing staff begging for my pain relief and after much discussion and careful handling of nursing staff I received pain relief but only to find myself in the same situation when the staff changeover took place,

All that was needed was nursing staff to read my notes, listen to me and treat me with a little respect, instead I faced sarcasm, punitive action. and constantl battles.

I was afraid to raise my concerns for fear of repercussions.
